Perserverence and leadership in the 9/11 Epic Poem

The Following is an excerpt from chapter 3 of the September 11th Epic Poem. The rough draft was written between June 2008 and May 2010. It is 2,000 lines long and has 1,499 rhyming pairs.

As minutes flew the numbers grew
            Of those who joined the hike.
While men prepared their leaders blared
            The orders through the mics.
The chaos reigned but men were trained
            To take it all in stride;
They didn’t know yet another jet
            Was bearing down outside.
